Ulster County Road Safety Plan

The Ulster County Transportation Council (UCTC), under contract with Cambridge Systematics, is undertaking a county wide Road Safety Plan in Ulster County.

The purpose of the Road Safety Plan is to provide a formal safety performance examination of transportation facilities throughout Ulster County. This determining where on the system crashes are over-represented, what facctors are contributing to crashes, and identifying solutions to improve the safety of roadway users.

Local Road Safety Plans are one of FHWA’s proven safety countermeasures(link is external) and provides an opportunity for local road owners to address unique road safety needs in their jurisdiction.

UCTC has undertaken an approach the follows guidance from FHWA and supports the New York State Strategic Highway Safety Plan(link is external).
